Teaching local history to area students
MCHS Education

Education is an important component of the mission at Madison County Historical Society. Educational programs are available in various forms.

Each year (usually 3rd week in August), MCHS hosts a week-long History Day Camp for ages 9-12. The week’s activities are themed and culminate with a play/skit performed for parents and friends.

MCHS EducationEducation Outreach kits are available for various school subjects, implementing local history. The kits, available to teachers, contain primary sources, examples, handouts, lesson plans, and more.

MCHS staff will work with educators to compile information and artifacts for class visits, presentations, etc.

Class tours are available with prior request.

Lessons exploring the operations of a museum can also be made available.

High School and College Internships are available in the museum, art, or history field. Students must contact MCHS with an idea from their field of interest. Staff will work to match interests with everyday operations of the museum.
